Triathlon

It's true, we will be competing tomorrow!  I can't wait!  But I need to do a lot of stretching because I have two twisted ankles.  :)  I am ready for it and it will be a lot of fun.  The hardest part I think, will be swimming.  I'm a pretty good swimmer but I am better swimming underwater and we are going to be swimming at a lake so that doesn't really work there.  Dad helped me practice some techniques for the swimming and it's hard!  So that's definitely the hardest part.  Then it will be the biking as the next hardest because I can keep up a very fast pace on my bike, but it's hard to keep it up for 4.5 miles, so I need to get a good head start on everyone for the biking part.  The easiest part will be running.  Even though it is last and I will be tired from doing the other two parts, I have run 1 or more miles basically every day for the past 5 or 6 months, so it will be second nature.  I'll need to find some jet skis for the swimming part, though.  :)

Wall Run

So there is this really cool parkour move that is called a wall run.  Now you can either do it horizontally or vertically.  It's cool either way.

Here is a horizontal wall run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgcxbTWi1ho

Here is a vertical wall run:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CE4pQwbgnMU

Isn't it cool!  We tried doing that in the open gym parkour class on Saturday, and we all completely failed.  It's awesome if you can do it though because... it just is.  :)  I have been watching a lot of videos on how to do them and I am getting better.  I can't wait for the day when I can successfully do it!

July 28, 2015

There's a problem I have while playing basketball.  It's not physical because I lost about 25 pounds since the end of school, I have run a mile every day this summer, have started working out, and have improved my ball handling.  It's my mental game that I need to improve on.  I need to have a mentality that even if we are getting creamed or I am having a horrible game or I miss every shot I take, I still go out there and keep trying and keep being aggressive.  I can't let other players get to me, I can't let my mistakes get to me, can't let losing get to me, and I can't let bad calls get to me.  So I have been practicing trying to keep a good mentality and be a leader on whatever team I am on.

So we took this pretty awesome free parkour open gym thing on Saturday and it was as awesome as I thought it was going to be.  Sadly though, they did not teach us flips.  :)  Parkour was invented by this French fireman so that if anyone was trapped in a building or something like that, he could be able to climb walls or do things that normal people would usually be able to do without a ton of practice.  The definition of parkour is: transporting yourself from any point to any point as quickly, safely, and efficiently as possible.  He then taught parkour to his 8'th grade son.  His son turned parkour into free-running.  Free-running is all those flips and twists and things like that while parkour is a much less fancy version of free-running.  But it still looks cool.  So I definitely want to start learning parkour now!  :)

Parkour

I have been thinking about possibly doing this cool sport called Parkour or sometimes it's also called Free Running.  It's basically doing awesome things in places everywhere.  Like do a flip off of a tree or do all these cool moves off of the environment around you.  It's pretty hard to explain so here is a video to show you what it is like.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rw3TZDI_JIk

I just got my new bike the other day and it is awesome!  The brakes work, which is a big difference from my other bike.  I rode about 5 miles yesterday and it was easy!  It is definitely a bigger bike, and it feels like it was custom made for me.  But it wasn't.  But it feels that way.  But it's not.  We have a huge hill right next to our house those of you that have been to our house before no how big it is.  Riding up that thing is much easier now, and I even did it twice in a row!  Another plus is that the bike's colors are cool too.  It is mainly orange with some dark grey highlights and stuff.  It looks sick.

Coach John

Coach John is pretty cool.  I have been going to this basketball camp this week and I have a really cool but intense coach.  He is in his late twenties.  He was born and raised in the projects in Houston, he said.  I told him a was from Texas too.  In just three days he helped improve my form tremendously and also helped my ball handling.  He's given me some good pointer for training and and practicing and certain moves and stuff.  He's also really funny.  But if you do something wrong then he will make you do it again and then if you keep doing things wrong... get ready to run!  :)  I realized that I kinda want to have a job like that when I am older.  Play basketball, teach basketball, hang out with kids and impact their lives, and also be a role model.

3 on 3

Today is the start if a new 3 on 3 league that I am in.  Our team is better this time.  Our team name is CLUTCH so I hope that we are.  :)  It's gonna be so fun and I can't wait to practice my new skills and my shooting form that I went to a camp to help improve.  It definitely has changed a lot and it's easy, too.  I like 3 on 3 more than 5 on 5 because there is more space on the court and you get the ball more.  Plus it is easier to drive since it's not so crowded in the lane.  I can't wait for tonight!  :)

Summer... Or What's Left Of It

Sadly, about half the Summer has gone by already!  It seems like it just started!  I've had a lot of fun though, and haven't had to wake up a 6 every morning to a blaring alarm clock, so that's good!  :)
Also, I have plenty of time in the day to read or go running or play basketball, or to some yard work for Dad.  It's really relaxing and we have done a ton of swimming!  Like twice every week or something.  I just wish that Dad also got the Summer off so that he would be as stressed anymore we could hang out more.  It's been fun so far and I hope it just gets better!  :)

Hi how are you today. Today I am writing my blog in Spanish so that's pretty awesome. I have been learning Spanish for about a year and a half but I'm not that good yet, so that's why Google Translate is awesome. I know a lot of the words in Spanish but some are just kind of random, so I haven't learned those yet. I think you just learn those over time. Anyways, goodbye!

Last Day of Camp

I have been going to a grueling basketball camp this week, and sadly, today is the last day.  It was pretty fun and I got better every day so that's good.  I met a couple of new kids including a 6 foot 2 Indian kid.  And he's in my same grade!  Unfortunately he's not very good, but if he was he could probably dunk!  I have been to this camp for that past couple of years and it has been fun and very hard all of these years... so I can't wait for next year's camp!  :)  I have been working a lot on my ball handling lately and that has definitely helped during this camp which is awesome because you need every skill you can get while at camp!

3 on 3... Again

Today we have our first practice for another 3 on 3 league I am in.  It's exciting because my team is better but the competition will be very challenging.  But it's gonna be fun I can can practice the skills I have been working on all summer.  My team is exactly the same as the other 3 on 3 team I had a few months ago, but we switched someone out for somebody else called Zach.  We used to live pretty close to another, just like a block down.  He is better than the other guy because he is aggressive and he is a bit taller than the other guy.  His only problem is that he likes to try to shoot threes.  When you're a post though, you don't shoot threes.  So I'm gonna have to tell him that.  :)

New Bike

Ever since second grade, I have had the same bike.  So I think after 6 years, maybe I should get one that fits a little better.  So Dad, Mom, and I looked online for cool bikes and I bought one with my own money.  It is pretty sick.  It's orange and black and is way bigger than my old bike.  Plus it's getting here before the triathlon so I will be able to use it for the triathlon which will definitely help.  I have been biking a lot lately and really like it so that's why I got a new bike.  Plus we have a ginormous hill right next to our house and it's really hard to ride up it.  So a new bike would make it a lot more fun to go up and down the hill.  I can't wait to ride it!  :)
It looks a little small but it's because of the picture.  It's actually the second largest side in the adult size so... yeah.  Bye!

Mini Triathlon - Miracles of Mitch

Hello!

On August 1st Chloe and I will be racing in the 2015 Pinky Swear Kids Triathlon at Lake Nokomis.  It's in Minneapolis. It's the largest kids triathlon in the U.S.  We're not racing for ourselves but for kids with cancer who are so sick that they can't race for themselves.
We are participating in the Pinky Swear Kids Triathlon and raising money to help those kids with cancer and their families. If we fundraise, we can we can get help pay for those families' food and medical bills and things like that. Our goal is to raise $500.  We have both done this race in the past and it is really fun.  Just letting you know, I am going to get first in my division, so... yeah.  :)  I have to swim a couple hundred yards, bike 4 and a half miles, and run 1 mile.  So it will be pretty easy.  The most important thing, though, is that we help the kids with cancer.  What place you get doesn't matter as much as that.  So we are going to run for those kids and have fun.  If you would like to help donate, then you can either contact our family or go to this link: http://www.pinkyswear.org/

Thanks!  :)

New Shoes

I got the coolest shoes I have ever had my whole life!  We got them early so I could grow into them and wear them this upcoming season for basketball.  THEY ARE SO SICK!  Plus we got them like $20 off and they were on clearance.  So basically we got them $100 dollars off!  I love them.  I even have had dreams about them.  Here is a picture of them.

Sweet, huh!  :)

Today I have to write another short story only using the vowels a and o and y.

Amy and Omar sat on a car.  Why?  Nobody knows.  Amy's not normal.  Omar also's not normal.

That was hard, too!  :)

July 6, 2015

For my blog today I have to write a short story without using any vowels except for i, u and e.

I used his crushed ice in the cup.  It is very ice - like.  His ice is never melts.  It's invincible.

Okay, I have to stop my incredibly long story right now.  That was a lot harder than I thought!  :)  You should try if you don't think it's hard.  This took my like fifteen minutes to write this short blog because I had to think of all those words only using i, e, and u.

Gavin got home from Germany yesterday!  He said it was really cool.  Although he is going to do some blog's about it so I won't spoil anything he said.  It was just a side note.

Oh, another side note is that golfing was awesome yesterday!  For my first time ever golfing, I got 74.  Which is good, but for a newbie like I am, that was pretty good.  Although Grandpa got 41.  Way better than mine.  I used to think that golf was pretty boring, but now I know that it is actually quite enjoyable, fun, and relaxing.  Everything is so peaceful out there... except for when I hit the same ball into the forest four times in a row!  I found it every time thankfully, but then I hit it into the water.  The ducks were laughing at me, but Grandpa was able to get it out.  It was a really fun experience and I hope to go more in the future.

Golf

I'm going golfing for the first time in my life with Grandpa.  It's gonna be pretty fun.  I'll learn a lot, and even though I won't be able to drive a golf cart, it will still be awesome.  :)  Grandpa's really good at it and know's a lot about it, so I'm glad he's teaching instead of (no offense meant) Dad.  It's just because Dad goes maybe once every two years, and grandpa goes maybe once a week.  So sorry Dad.  He did give me some pointers last night, so I at least know when to use each golf club and things like that.  This is gonna be fun!  :)
