Math

I thought math this year was going to be really bad because it was going to be much harder, and the teacher is good but very hard and strict.  So I was a little nervous, even a few days ago.  But we had a study night last night that Dad and I attended and my math teacher really helped me and she's pretty cool.  Plus I have a lot of friends in my math class so that makes it more fun.  Each day she shows us an inspirational video to get us pumped up for doing math.  So it will be a hard, but fun year for math.  :)

In geography today we learned about all the climates of the world.  There are:

Equatorial Rainforest:  Humid, rainy, forest.

Savannah:  Has a wet season and a dry season,  not as dry as the desert.

Desert:  Any place where there is little to no precipitation - even Antarctica is.

Mediterranean:  A mild to warm climate that is the most populated.  Always on the West part of continents.

Humid Subtropical:  Always on the East part of continents.  Mild to warm weather.

Continental:  Humid, it has all four seasons.

Highlands:  Hilly, wet, mountainous.

Ice Cap/Tundra:  VERY COLD.  Scarcely populated.

Marine:  By water, usually very populated.

Cool growth mindset video that our teacher showed us at school:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLYECIjmnQs

Awesome, right!  What I like about it is that once those people had done something amazing, I bet the people who told them they were to stupid or dumb to amount to anything really felt dumb.  :)  I learned that know matter how hard you are hit, you have to pick yourself back up again.  It's not how hard you're hit that counts - its if you keep moving forward.  There is a Batman quote that says, "Why do we fall Master Bruce?  So that we can learn to pick ourselves up again."

Geography

Geography will be really fun this year!  But it will also be one of the hardest classes just because of all the studying and memorizing and stuff.  I can't wait until we actually start learning about the countries and where they are on a map.  Plus the teacher is pretty cool and makes learning fun, but still challenging.

I also think math will be fun too, because the teacher talks about it like it is the easiest thing in the world to comprehend, which is probably the opposite for me.  It's really difficult for me, but I know I can do it.  We had our first test today and I am feeling very confident about it.

Me and some of my friends have been doing some basketball down at this park.  It was really fun, but kind of easy for me because at one point, it was me versus 5 other people.  But it was really fun and we are doing it everyday this week because the only other really good player and some other kids came up with the idea that we should practice our basketball tryout drills, so that's what we did, and we are doing it again today.  I can't wait to go so I have to finish this blog quick, bye.

New Outlook

For the past couple of years in basketball, I have been good, but have never found a way to play my absolute best in every game.  It just seemed to be inside of a locked box that I couldn't find the key to.  But now, I have found what was wrong - my mentality.  So now my mentality is...

With my new mentality and my new skills and fitness, I know I will have an amazing year this year.

2'nd Day

We have a new schedule this year for school.  We are split up into Day A days, and Day B days.  So yesterday was Day A for me, and today was Day B for me.  So it was like the first day of school again for me because I had different teachers.  I think I will like Day A more but Day B is still pretty cool.  I have friends in every single class so that helps.  Earth Science was really fun today - the teacher, Mr. Terhart is funny and we did a fun activity where we had 8 marshmallows and 8 dry spaghetti noodles and we had to come up with a tall structure on our own that could hold up a ping pong ball for at least 10 seconds without you holding it and without the ball falling.  Also, the ball had to be higher than everything else so you couldn't just trap it inside something or whatever.

First Day

Today was awesome!  I have friends in every single class which makes life a lot easier!  I have really good teachers so far and had a lot of fun.  I think my favorite class, though, was Spanish.  I have a ton of friends in that class, the teacher is really cool, (in fact, she only talked in Spanish to us most of the time, except for sometimes she would talk in English which was cool) and we got to choose Spanish names that we go by in that class.  I chose Pablo because Pablo is awesome.  So my new name is Pablo!  :)  It was fun and I can't wait to go back tomorrow!  (Kind of because I have to wake up early.)
