#12

I have learned a lot being 11 years old!  I have learned heart lessons, life lessons, and just regular plain old lessons.  I have really enjoyed being 11 but I can't wait to turn 12 in about thirty-five minutes!  (Literally!)  I have had an awesome birthday so far and I can't wait to open my birthday presents and eat cake and go Trick-or-Treating!  Thank you everybody who got me presents and if you didn't, it doesn't really matter because I know you still like me. :)

Laser Tag

Today, even thought it is not my birthday, we get to go laser tagging tonight!  It is going to be so fun!  Also, we get to go an unlimited amount of times so that makes it even better!  My favorite part about laser tag is when there is another person coming up next to you, but you hide behind something and surprise attack them!  I also like when you first start out because then there is the cool music to get you pumped up and all the lights going on and off.  So tonight will be fun!  :)

Wonder

Me and Mom just finished reading a book called about this kid named August.  The book is called, Wonder.  It is very, very, very good and even though it is not the genre I usually read, I still loved it!  So did Mom.  It is a book about this kid who was born with not exactly a regular face.  It was kind of deformed.  They don't describe what he looks like though.  So anyway, he has been home schooled all of his life because kids and people are scared of his face and always make fun of him.  The thing is, he is exactly like a regular kid except for his face.  He likes Star Wars, he plays with light sabers, he is just as smart as everyone else if not smarter, he plays video games, and is just like a regular kid.  But then in 5th grade, his Mom decides to send him to public school and he........ sorry I'm giving away the whole book.  Just read it and you will find out.  And trust me, it is good!

DuoLingo

There is this really cool language learning app called DuoLingo.  I'm learning spanish on it and it's a really really fun way of learning it.  The app is free too so that makes it even better!  Of course that could be just opinion, or you actually don't think that it is a fun way of learning but you just don't want to hurt my feelings.  Either way it is really fun and I was saying spanish phrases and words and stuff all day.  Tu es bebe leche?  Do you drink milk?  Ella es tu bebe agua.  The girl drinks water.  I think that is what the second one means :)  Anyways, GET THE APP!

Lightning Part II

In Tiger Time today (It's like our home room) we played lightning again.  Last time, since I got in the top three in my class, I was in on the tournament.  So there was a lot of people doing the lightning tournament!  Everybody who then didn't make top ten was eliminated and sat in the sidelines in the gym.  The people who did make top ten played the winners bracket of lightning.  ( this is all of my house we are talking about here, so a lot of people!) So I had a lot of people on my basketball team competing and also some A-team players.  And guess what?  I won the whole thing!  Some of my friends like Will and Carter and Gage and Jackson actually started lifting me in the air and a lot of other people started crowding around!  So my day after that was pretty cool needless to say! :)

Halloween

A week from now it will be my birthday!  I am pretty excited!  We get to have taco rings ( one of Mom's best food that she makes) the night of my birthday!  Also we get to eat at Punch Pizza ( one of the best!) and go laser-tagging!  But since it is Minnesota, people are saying that it might snow on my birthday!  I hope it doesn't because that would be horrible when we are going trick-or-treating!

Go-Karts

In science class, we are making go-karts.  We can only make them using cardboard, rubber bands, and tape, with a few other wooden things like wheels and stuff.  And the really cool part is.... I'm in a group with Gage, Will, and this other kid named Ethan who is really nice too!  I can't believe my luck!  So anyway, we came up with this basic design plan that is easy and hopefully- efficient.  The hard part about the whole thing though, is that we can't start it with a catapult like to to get it going.  Also there is no ramp we can make it go on.  Just a two meter mark that we have to pass on level ground!  I have no clue how this is going to work.

Snow

I can't wait until winter!  I really like how much snow we get up here in Minnesota!  I actually can have lot's of snowball fights and go sledding and tubing and things like that.  Also, in Texas we never needed snow pants or boots or anything!  Although, here is the thing I don't get, people will still go jogging outside, even with like.... 5 feet of snow!  I don't know how they don't freeze to death, and how they will still jog in their coats and stuff.  I hate running in anything heavy!

Heart Connections

In my family, Heart Connections are very important.  Heart Connections are things you feel when you are very close.  So when I do something that could break a Heart Connection, it causes me and the other person not to have as good a relationship.  So for my family, it's very important.  So the biggest thing about when I do something wrong, (which is basically never because I'm....... well I'm me!  Isn't that enough of an explanation!)  :)  is then I have to re-establish the Heart Connection.

A Spark of Kindness

There is this girl named Ellie at my school.  I think she has a disease or she might be a midget.  But in keyboarding class today, we found out that she is in Delaware, having surgery.  So my keyboarding teacher, Ms. Ellwell, who if you read some of my other blogs you'll know my feelings towards her, actually let us make cards for Ellie!  I mean of all teachers, Ms. Ellwell said we could?  So I had a better keyboarding class than usual.

Practices

This year I am really enjoying my basketball practices!  They are pretty fun and the coach pushes hard, but not too hard.  Also, we are going to be very good because of my teams offense!  It's a transition offense, all the time, so it's pretty tiring but it's also an easy way to put points on the board!  I have lots of friends on the team and everybody tries very hard so I think this is going to be a great year!

Chile Cook-off

Every year, some of our neighbors hold an annual chile cook-off.  It's pretty fun except for when I forget only to get a little of each type of chile and I get super stuffed!  But it's really cool to see all these other peoples chile and how they like it!  And then at the end, we vote for whose we like best.  I have a feeling it's going to be us this year!  :)

Lute

Today in music class, our teacher, Mr. Ferguson, played a lute for us.  It was pretty cool and he told us that only 30% off the sound actually comes out of the lute, while 70% comes out of the guitar.  That happens because the guitar has a flat back, making the sound waves go right out of the guitar, while the lute has a curved, half-circle back and so the sound waves go bouncing every direction.  But the lute has a really nice sound and it's very quiet.

PEMDAS

Today in math we did some exponents and then some algebraic expressions.  He told us that PEMDAS is not perfect.  He said it confused him a lot when he was a kid.  But then again, he said a lot confused him when he was a kid. (: So he gave us a more simple thing that sort of worked.  But it was pretty fun doing algebraic expressions.

New York

Today, Das left to go on a business trip to New York!  I am going to miss him very much but I hope he has a great time and I hope he doesn't become a Giants fan while he is there! (:  also, I can't wait to see all his pictures of New York.

Gage

I made a new friend at school.  His name is Gage.  He likes to play basketball too and we are on the same team.  We are going to hang out and play some basketball and stuff tomorrow at my house hopefully if weather is nice.  Also my other friend Will might come over too!  It will be fun!

October 3, 2013

In math today we got to use protractors.  They are pretty fun!  We had to find angles and make angles and we learned the formula, M<A3C.  ( by the way, < = angle.). It means measurement is the angle, A3C.  Because any number can be used in place of the vertex, which in this case is 3 in place of B.

Mlk Project

In social studies we have to do a Martin Luther king jr iMovie project.  It has to be n one of his four aspects of the speech, fair employment, fair education, and two others I don't remember.  I chose to do the fair employment.  It is pretty cool learning about all this and doing another movie on it!  But I couldn't have done it if it wasn't for mom and dad.  They helped me so much like they are good at. (:

October 1, 2013

My first basketball practice is this Monday!  I can't wait to see who my coaches are and what our plays are going to be.  I talked to the other A-team people who got kicked off (they are both my friends, Jackson Todd and Nathan Duro) and they both agree with me that our B-team is going to be the best B-team ever because we have four ex-A-team players on it including me and other B-teams dont!  So I can't wait for the season to start!
