Bird Watching

Bird Watching season (for me) is coming up again!  Fall and Winter are the times I like to bird watch best!  You can see a whole lot more in the Winter and Fall like: chickadees, cardinals, blue jays, cedar waxwings, slate colored junco's, red breasted grosbeaks, bald eagles, lots of types of hawks and owls and falcons and stuff, catbirds, and more.  I love bird watching!

The Prank

On Sunday I went with my neighbor Ethan.  Not the school Ethan.  My neighbor Ethan.  He's 15 and likes to play basketball with me.  Anyway him, his mom, and his friend Andrew went to the school that his mom is the vice Principle of.  Ethan, his friend and I went to the gym to play basketball.  We played about half a game of 21 when Ethan said there was a ghost in the next court. I said that ghost's aren't real and also, stop playing this prank!  Ethan said there was a ghost and his name was Bob.   I said the same thing I said earlier, again.  So Ethan went behind the curtain and said to Bob that ghost's aren't real.  Then motioned for me to come and see Bob.  So I came over and Ethan said to Bob, "Don't hide as soon as he comes!."   Trying to make me believe that he hid.  Not that Bob ever existed in the first place.  It went on line that for the next hour.  Ethan and his friend hiding from me then stealing my ball and saying that Bob ate it.  Finally his mom came and I went home.  I was really frustrated that is was 8:00 Sunday night and that tomorrow was a school day and that I wanted to be with mom and dad.  Thankfully mom calmed me down and eventually Ethan's heart made him feel really bad and now he is very mad at himself but every thing is fine now. But getting the trust back is the tricky thing.

A-team

Guess what? Today I found out that I'm on the A-team! I had my tryouts on Saturday and I did good but I just wanted to be proud of myself. I didn't care if I made the A-team or not. But I'm still really glad that I did. I think I'v had enough losing for one season! :D

African drumming practice AGAIN!

Tomorrow's the big day!  We do our African drumming concert tomorrow!  It'll be fun.  My hand hurt a lot from drumming longer than we usually do since this is our last day of practice.  We did all the parts we have to do perfectly today.  We are the last group so it is important that we end good.

More on the Yu-Gi-Oh books

African drumming practice.

Today I met Kofee!  He's really cool!  He said drumming is his language and when he drumming it speaks to him and he wants us to feel like that to.  He said drumming is all about giving and taking.  When you hit the drum you give, when your hand bounces back up you take.  Holding the drum is important to.  If you tilt it a wrong way your taking and keeping sound.  If your doing it right, then your giving.  And then after his small speech we started drumming.  About 50 minutes of it.  He made us hit it hare so that we were giving a lot of sound.  In all that 50 minutes we only learned 2 parts of what we were going to do.  Here they are.  Tone, tone, tone, BASE, BASE... Tone, tone, tone, BASE, BASE... and so on for a long time.  The second one is, left tone, right tone, left tone, right tone, left tone, BASE, BASE and so on.

I don't know what I'll call this one

Every day now I make a mental note of anything I have to do today and cross it off when I'm done.  I also have one in my school binder but if I loose that one I have another one.I really don't want to forget anything again and I think yesterday's experience really helped with that.  I have some more home work to do and I'll make sure not to forget that to.

What I learned Today...

Today I forgot a assignment.  It was due today and I got a warning from the teacher.  I was really mad at myself the rest of the day and my frustration at myself ruined my day.  I was worried what my parents would think about it.  Thankfully mom said, "You'v been beating yourself up enough today.  You don't need any more."  And then gave me some suggestions on how not to forget my homework.  Aren't Moms the best?

Yu-Gi-Oh book series

By now you should know that I like to play Yu-Gi-Oh. So when I see some books at the library, well I can't resist.  So I got all eight of them.  They are comics but you read them Japanese style.  Why?  Because Yu-Gi-Oh was invented in Japan.  Japanese style book you read from right to left and up to down.  You have to really concentrate on what you reading and if it's the right way.  Then you read an American book and get totally confused.

Ghana

Today I learned about Ghana. It's about as big as Ohio and has 46 different languages spoken.  Kofee is the African drummer that will start to teach us in 2 days!  Some Africans name their children on the day they were born.  Kofee was born on Friday so his parents named him Kofee.  Ghana is like the U.S.A They wear the same clothes we wear, along with their traditional clothes.  Some parts are poor and some are rich.  They have I- pads, I-phones, granite countertops, cars, buses, trains, bands, Principals and teachers.  They are the same as us but totally different.  Different foods, clothes, religions and more.  I think Ghana is really cool.

3 thing bag

For school we have to put in a bag three things that you love or that describe you.  In my bag I put, a picture of Angel and Maximum, my basketball trophy, and my baseball MVP award.  I think those describe me, don't you?

African Drumming again

In two weeks an African drummer will come down and teach me and my class how to do African drumming.  I'm so exited!  He landed in the United States a few days ago.  We are practicing the drum a little bit before he comes so that we aren't completely new to this ordeal.

Giant Step Game

I know, I know, the title is a little dum and obvious but really it's a fun game.  Mr. Rassmussun is the head of all the teachers.  He's really important to the school okay.  Oh yeah, he's also a 5'th grade teacher.  So anyway Mr. Rassmussun called all 5'th graders outside and we played the Giant Step Game. He say's for example, "I like people who play basketball." And every one who plays basketball get's to take a giant step up. Whoever has taken the most steps in 15 minutes get's a tootsie roll. I got one.

Think twice, act once

Today was my first day of school!  I'm in 5'th grade now.  I'm Still friends with Logan even though he is in a different class.  My teacher is Ms. Ahlberg.  She's really nice.  Today I saw a poster on our classroom wall that said, think twice, act once.  I really like that saying. If every one did that it would totally change the world.
