2 mile run

Today in gym, we had to run 2 miles!  It was pretty hard!  We had to run around the school, (indoors) up stairs, in the weight room, all the way across the halls and back up the stairs, 12 times!  An actuall 2 miler would have only been 10 times around the school, but we had to run 12.  I had 11 and a half laps done when we had to stop!  I tried not to stop once, so I basically ran for 24 minutes without stopping! (:

Broken Wrist

My teammate, Jackson, broke his wrist (his radius) at our last game!  He is our best shooter and always has lots of three pointers!  One game, he had 6 three pointers!  He is also my friend and we are in some of the same classes.  This is how he broke his wrist:  he went up for a layup, but got fouled with the ball still in his hands.  So in mid-air, over out-of-bounds area, he tried to pass the ball to one of our teammates, but when he fell, he landed all on his wrist!  He said that it is only a hairline break and that it will heal before our next game, and said I can be the first one to sign his cast!  :)  So we will still have our three point guy back, but he will just be a little bit rusty.

What we have done in FACS

In FACS (food and consumer science) so far, we have made, orange slushies, hot chocolate, pizza (yum), and toast with an egg inside of it.  (Toad in a Hole)  Now, in our last cooking day, we are about to make (sometime this week, I have no clue when) COOKIES!  They are called Snickerdoodles, and look and sound pretty good!  I have never heard of them, but they are a cookie so they must be good.  :)

How the Basketball Tournament Ended

So we actually did really good this tournament!  We got third place out of about 17 teams!  We won our first two games, lost our third one, and won our fourth one!  So we won a lot!  I played really good the second game!  I said it was the best game I have ever played since we moved to Minnesota.  I also had a lot of points that game!  And the really awesome thing about our last game to decide who would get third place, was that I MADE THE GAME TYING SHOT WITH A MINUTE LEFT!  Then the next play, I passed it to my friend Nathan, who made the game winning three pointer!  It was awesome!  I also got a really cool medal!

Basketball Tournament

This weekend, I have another basketball tournament.  It is going to be really fun!  We are playing a team I have never played before, so that will be interesting.  Our record is 1-5!  We are not doing that good!  So this tournament, I really want to get to the championship, instead of losing all of our games.  Also, me and dad have come up with a new system so that I can be a better basketball player and I can get more points, so I can't wait to test it out!

Snowboarding

When we go out to play in the snow, Chloe and I always 'snowboard'.  Since we don't have real snowboards, we use our long, snowboard shaped sleds to do it.  We always see who can do the best wipeout.  Needless to say, I am the best at it because I wipeout without even trying! (:  So we will probably snowboard today when Chloe gets home from school.  RIGHT CHLOE?

My Day Home

Today was my school field trip.  Instead of actually going to school though, (who would do that?) I stayed home since it was going to be -26!  Yes that is right!  -26 degrees Fahriehight!  So instead, I had a nice day to spend with mom at home.  It was really fun, we went shopping, we cooked dinner, I read and did some DuoLingo, (read my other blogs) played Othello with her, and did a big homework project.  Take that you cold temperatures!  :)

Team Handball

Team handball is really fun!  We did it in gym class today and I really enjoyed it!  It is as popular in Spain as football is here.  The rules are:

You cannot have the ball for more than three seconds.

You have to pass the ball three times before you can shoot.

If the ball goes out of bounds, the other team obviously gets it.

The goalie is the only one who can be near the goal; everyone else has to be a couple meters away.

You have to jump in the air to shoot the ball otherwise it doesn't count.

Today, my team won, 11 to 2.  I had 6 of those goals too!  Also, the defense rules the game.  I had a couple blocks and some interceptions or steals.  It was really fun!

Reading projects

In reading class, ( G.E.L for me) after we finish a book, we have to do an Imovie trailer on it.  It is like a book teaser.  So since I just finished, The Book Thief, I am going to do an Imovie on that!  It will be pretty fun!  Me and Mom came up with some cool ideas for it and I am pretty confident about this whole project!

Snow

I can't believe that it has already snowed here!  When I was walking to the bus stop the past three days, it was snowing every time!  Same thing when I walk home from the bus stop!  When I was shoveling the driveway today, there was so much snow that I made lots of snowballs and stockpiled them up until Gavin came home from his bus stop and released my army.  He wasn't so pleased! (:  (And yes, we actually have to shovel the driveway up here this early in winter!)  (:

If I Could Pick One Phrase to Describe the World it Would Be...

Today in G.E.L, I wrote an article.  I had to choose one phrase to describe the world and write about it. Here it is.

If I had to pick one phrase to describe the world it would be, 'take for granted', because, I find myself or others doing that all the time.  Think about really rich people like basketball players or football players or any rich kind of person you can.  Do you think they all enjoy every moment of life to the fullest or act like this might be the last day of their life, and try to live it to the best way possible?  I think that a lot of rich people just take for granted what they have and don't appreciate anything.   And I know that is just a stereotype, but I think that for a lot of people it is true!  It doesn't even have to be rich people either!  I find myself doing that all the time!  I sometimes take for granted that I live in a nice house, and that I get to eat food everyday, or that I have a family to be with, or that I have an education and a basketball hoop and a TV and an iPad that my school gave me, or a phone, or a pet dog and a pet bird, or anything at all that I have.  Have you ever thought about people on Haiti, or the Philippines, or slums in Afghanistan, or Iraq, or Iran?  Do you think they have a TV and have food on the table every night?  Do they even have a house?  I'm sure that if one of those really, really poor people get anything that regular or rich people have, they will protect it and love it and do everything with it, except take it for granted.  So I guess all I am trying to say is, don't take things for granted because there are other people out there that would love to have what you take for granted.

Grandma and Grandpa

Grandma and Grandpa just left for home this morning.  I had an awesome time when they were here and we all had so much fun!  I learned how to play three different games, shared and created memories, and got to be together and see each other again.  Two weekends ago, they saw my first basketball tournament, and this Saturday, it will be my home tournament!  Everyone in my team is really pumped up and excited and I am too! But I will miss the Grand cheering going on by my Grandparents!  (Get it?) (:
