Thanksgiving

I can't wait until Thanksgiving!  We are deep frying the turkey so it will be really good!  Also, Grandma is making chocolate pie too, which would be the first time for me to have chocolate pie!  Mom is letting me get the buns ready which is my favorite food besides the pie!  I know my team for our Thanksgiving family football game is going to win because we actually have plays that Grandpa and I made up!  :)

A Ten Year Olds's Idea of Bullying

http://momastery.com/blog/2013/11/21/dont-give-matter/.  Read the article.  It is very good isn't it!  The writing style is amazing for a ten year old kid!  When I got home from school today, Mom gave me this article to read.  I really enjoyed it!  :)

Floor Hockey

No matter what, I will always be horrible at any kind of hockey.  Today in gym, we did floor hockey and I had two goals, but I am definitely not as graceful and awesome about scoring points in hockey as basketball or football or something.  I guess I am definitely not Minnesotan if I can't skate, ice skate, or play hockey!  :)  I'll stick with the sports that I can do that don't involve anything to do with outside in the winter, or skating.  :)

Ukulele

Today in music class, I played a ukulele.  It is a Hawaiian guitar, but it only has four strings and has a different, more beach like tune.  Our teacher, Mr. Ferguson, plays those for us and sometimes lets us use them.  He also lets us play the guitar sometimes, so playing the ukulele was much harder because I had no clue what note to go to.  Let me get this straight.... I can't read musical notes for the life of me, but I am okay with the guitar because he shows us what to do.  This time, he just told us to read the notes on the board, so I quickly gave up with trying to play it and let someone else go.  :)

Angel

I am so glad I have Angel as my pet bird!  I am glad she has lived so long!  She is 1 and a half years old.  Her birthday is March 26.  She can do some tricks like come, kiss my finger, (she usualy just bites it!) chirp, and I can also make her hug me and eat some of her bird seed.  She is very cute when she acts like her namesake, but when she doesn't, it is like the exact opposite of what I named her! (:  her favorite thing to do (besides eat) is to hang upside down, climb on my shirt, and sit on my shoulder.  I want to be able to one day walk outside with her on my shoulder and her not fly away, but I doubt that that will ever happen.

Flip

Flip is a really cool game!  It is played with scrabble pieces and is really fun.  You have to make words that don't have slang and they actually have to exist in the English dictionary.  (Chloe, you might want to pay attention to the part that I just said) (:  They also have to all be connected.  At the end you just total up all the numbers on the words you made and whoever gets the most wins.  I think that is a lot like scrabble!

Backgammon

Backgammon is a really cool game!  Grandma and Grandpa brought it over with them and taught me how to play it.  It requires a lot of skill and strategy.  With that said, I am not so good at it strategy wise, but I do have the skill.  :)  My record is 2 and 4.  2 wins and 4 losses.  But both times I lost, I played Grandma and Grandpa, and they are both awesome at it.  :)

Shooting Shirts

Today is the day before the tournament.  Every team in Farmington gets a shooting shirt.  A shooting shirt is a warm up, long sleeve shirt that has your last name on the back, so I think they are pretty cool.  Today, everyone who plays basketball and goes to my school wore their shooting shirt.... except me!  I put it on in the morning while I was getting dressed, but then decided to change.  So my whole team thought that I should be suspended from the first game for not wearing my shooting shirt the day before.  (That is a total joke that I made up just to make this blog funny, so you better laugh).  No, i they didn't think that, but now at least I know that the day before the tournament, I should always wear my shooting shirt.  :)

Thanksgiving

Tomorrow, my Grandma and Grandpa get here!  They are staying here for Thanksgiving too, and they get to see my first basketball tournament.  Also, they will probably get at my house before I finish walking home from the bus stop!  Grandpa also gave me some football plays to memorize (we are on the same Thanksgiving football team) and I am very sure that we will win! (:  I can't wait until tomorrow!

Time

I think time goes by way to fast!  It's like one minute I am five years old and then BAM, now I'm twelve. Or it's like one day I am in 2 grade and then BAM, I am in 6th grade.  One day I live in Texas and then BAM, I now live in Minnesota.  That's why, when I am having a bad day or something isn't exactly working out the way I want it, I always try to cherish the moment!  Go to a music playing devise and look up a song called, Feel this moment.  It is by pit bull and a lot of it is rap, but the part that is really nice is when the girl is singing.  That's when you like it.

Our First Game

This Saterday is my teams first basketball tournament!  We are playing in a C-team tournament, even though we are a B-team, so everyone on my team is super pumped!  Also, this year, I have an arm sleeve, so I am really excited to use it!  But even better than that, my Grandma and Grandpa are coming.  I am so excited!

G.E.L

Since I was in G.E.L last year, they put me in G.E.L again this year.  The one thing I don't like about it is how it is just reading.  Don't get me wrong- I love reading!  It's just that last year in G.E.L, we used lots of the subjects to do really, really cool and fun projects and activities.  This year in G.E.L though, we just read at our own level instead of going to actual reading class.  I wish I had old G.E.L back sometimes!  But at least now I can read a class book on my own without waiting for the rest of the class to read it slowly or the teacher read it out loud!

The Native American Way of Dating

Today in music class, my teacher, Mr. Ferguson, taught us about the Native American way of dating or asking another person out.  So since the village is so small, everyone knows each other's schedule.  So when the guy wants to date the girl, he already know her schedule (which probably helps a lot!) and is then able to surprise her.  So what they do is they make a shaft of wood and strap it to their leg for about two days.  They thought that is was like making your soul come into this piece of wood.  Then once the two days were over, you would craft the stick of wood into a flute.  And then, while the girl was getting water by a stream or another kind of thing, you would hide behind something and play a special song just for her.  You would continue with that same routine for a few days until she says yes.  That's a pretty cool way of dating isn't it!

Scrimmage

Today is my teams first scrimmage!  Everybody has been talking about it all day and yesterday too!  We are scrimmaging the 6th grade A-team.  I think we have a pretty good chance, but we need to work really hard!  I also want tot see how Carter does on a team!  I have beaten him one on one many, many times in basketball camps and stuff but now that he made the A-team instead of me, I want to see how he does!  Also, we need o win because my whole team has been smack talking to the A-team all day! (:

Last Day of Keyboarding

Today was my last day of keyboarding!  Tomorrow I will have another special class that is not taught by the same teacher!  In my next class, we get to cook and eat really good things!  :)  This next one will probably be my favorite one!  After I finish with the one I am about to have, I will then have art class and then media art which is like pictures and stuff.  :)

Go-Karts

Today was the day when our group did our Go-Kart thing.  I think we got the farthest!  We got past 1 meter (100 centimeters) while everyone else got in the forties or seventies.  Our Go-Kart was pretty simple.  Ethan kept on toying around with things ( He made a bow and arrow that actually works out of a rubber band, and a piece of tinfoil!) and he ended up making us a really good main body for the Go-Kart.  We then just attached everything together with some rubber bands and some sticks.  It was pretty easy!  The cool thing was, it was like one of those wind-up toys that you just pull back and it goes! :)
