Repeating and Terminating Decimals

Today, in math, we learned about repeating and terminating decimals.m repeating decimals are when there is a pattern the to division problem and the same number or pattern of numbers goes on forever. So it could be like this, 1.5555555555555555555555555, but instead of writing all of those numbers, you would just write a dash above the beginning number or pattern that repeats.  An terminating decimals is like this, 5.7785, it just stops.  On calculators though, repeating decimals would be like this, 1.55555555555555555555555556.  It would be a six to show that it goes on forever.

How to Calculate Speed

Today, in science, we learned how to calculate speed.  What you do, is you take the mass of the object, and divide it by the time.  If you were trying to find out how fast a NASCAR driver is going, you divide his cars mass, and divide it by the time.  It's pretty cool!

Coming Home

Today, Mom and Dad are coming home!  They will be here at around 9:30.  I will stay up to see them.  The good thing is, Nana still stays until Friday, so we get two more days with her.  It will be awesome.  Mom bring a the good weather with her wherever she goes, so when she went to California, she made in nice out there.  And she also made it cold here.  But now that she is coming back, it will be warm.  (:

Nana

Nana has been here with us since Friday.  It has been awesome!  We have all laughed so hard, had a lot of fun, played a lot of games, and ate a lot.  She leaves this Friday, because Mom and Dad get here on Wrdnesday and she also wants to spend time with them.  They are in California right now!  They get heat and beaches, and we get cold and rain!  (:

Dividing Decimals

Today, in math, we learned how to divide decimals.  It actually isn't that hard, the only hard part is just remembering to move the decimal.  Of course, Mr. Amos made it look easy, as he does with all math stuff, but I wonder what I am going to do next year.  Even though I have had a B-, an A- and another A-, I still am no good at math.  For some reason, math is the only class where things don't click for me.  I hope I have a really good math teacher next year as well!

Kinds of Heat

Today, in science, we learned about the kinds of heat.  There is convection, conduction, and radiation. Radiation is when the heat spreads out in all directions.  Convection is when the molecules on the bottom get hot, rise up to the top, and then the molecules on the top get hot and rise up.  Conduction is when heat transfers by direct contact.

"I Am Malala"

READ THE BOOK, "I Am Malala" RIGHT NOW!  It is really good.  Me and mom are reading it together right now, and every day she reads it to me, I become more interested and the more I dislike the Taliban.  Do you know what the subtitle on the book is?  It is, 'The girl who stood up for education, and was shot by the Taliban'.  Read the book, you'll love it.

Heat

Today, in science, we learned about the three different types of heat.  There is conduction, convection, and radiation.  Radiation heat is where it speads the heat in all different directions.  Conduction heat I remember as a conductor with the wand thing.  Conduction heat passes heat on while in direct contact with that molecule.  And finally, convection heat is where the cold molecules on the bottom get hot, and they rise to the top, pushes the molecules on the top to the bottom, and it goes in a never ending cycle.  Unless you turn off the heat.

Molecular Theory

When you think of Molecular Theory, you are like, AAAAAHHHHHHH!  That is like totally advanced science stuff.  But really, it's not.  Molecular Theory is just about solids, liquids, gases, and atoms basically.  Molecular Theory is learning that all atoms in all substances vibrate, nothing can reach Absolute Zero.  Absolute Zero is when it is so cold, the atoms don't even move.  Which is impossible.  Molecular Theory is hard to explain, so just call my science teacher for more information.  (:
